Today’s “Word of the Day” is “altruism“ and it is a noun meaning “selflessness and concern for the well-being of others. Those who possess this quality typically put others first and truly care about the people around them, whether they have a personal tie to them or not; unselfishness, compassion, generosity, humanitarianism”.
Example Sentence:
- Some may choose to work with vulnerable elderly people out of altruism.
- I argued at the time altruism was being discussed that there is no pure altruism.
- It is not altruism that is at work here; it is globalisation.
- The fans are not altogether convinced by his altruism.
