UP govt to set up India’s first leather park in Kanpur
Uttar Pradesh government will establish the first leather park of the country in Kanpur district. The park is expected to provide employment to 50 thousand people directly and more than 1 lakh 50 thousand people indirectly. AIR correspondent reports that additional chief secretary MSME Dr Navneet sehgal said that the project will be established in 268 area of land in Ramaipur village of Kanpur district and is expected to attract an investment of more than 5850 crores.

PM Modi to addresed World Economic Forum’s Davos Dialogue
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresed the World Economic Forum’s Davos Dialogue through video conferencing. More than 400 top industry leaders from across the globe will attend the session, wherein the Prime Minister will be speaking on the Fourth Industrial Revolution – using technology for the good of humanity. The Davos Dialogues agenda marks the launch of the World Economic Forum’s Great Reset Initiative in the post COVID world.

Environment Minister releases Marine Mega Fauna Stranding Guidelines & National Marine Turtle Action Plan
Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Prakash Javadekar has released Marine Mega Fauna Stranding Guidelines and the National Marine Turtle Action Plan in New Delhi. The documents contain ways and means to promote inter-sectoral action for conservation. It also suggests improved coordination amongst the government, civil society and all relevant stakeholders on the response to cases of stranding, injury or mortality of marine mammals and also conservation of marine turtles.

Centre approves release of Rs 1,751 cr to Assam, Arunachal, Odisha, Telangana & UP
The High-Level Committee under the Chairmanship of Home Minister Amit Shah approved Additional Central Assistance of over one thousand seven hundred 51 crore rupees under the National Disaster Response Fund, NDRF to five states, which were affected by floods, landslides during South-West Monsoon-2020 and hailstorm during Rabi 2019-20.

India, World Bank sign 500 million dollar Programme to improve quality of school education in India
The Government of India and the World Bank signed a 500-million US dollar Strengthening Teaching-Learning and Results for States Programme (STARS) to improve the quality and governance of school education in six Indian states. These include Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, and Rajasthan. Some 250 million students (between the age of six and 17) in 1.5 million schools and over 10 million teachers will benefit from the programme.

In the US, veteran Indian-American Congressman Ami Bera has been re-elected as chairman of the House Foreign Subcommittee on Asia, Pacific, Central Asia and Non-proliferation.

Lt Gen Chandi Prasad Mohanty appointed as new Army Vice-Chief
Lieutenant General Chandi Prasad Mohanty has been appointed as the new Vice-chief of Army staff. He would assume the office on February 1, 2021 from Lt General SK Saini, who is superannuating on 31 January 2021. Lt Gen Mohanty is a June 1982 batch Infantry Officer from the Rajput Regiment and is presently the Southern Army Commander.

Swaminathan Janakiraman and Aswini Kumar Tewari appointed as MDs of State Bank of India
The appointments committee (ACC) of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Swaminathan Janakiraman and Ashwini Kumar Tewari as new Managing Directors (MDs) of State Bank of India (SBI) for a period of three years. Dinesh Kumar Khara is the current Chairman of the bank. The other two MDs of the bank are C.S. Setty and Ashwani Bhatia. SBI is headed by a Chairman and four managing directors.

Kaja Kallas, the leader of the Reform Party in Estonia has been elected as the new Prime Minister of the country. Kallas is the first female prime minister of the country.

उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार कानपुर जिले में देश का पहला चमड़ा पार्क स्थापित करेगी। पार्क से प्रत्यक्ष रूप से 50 हजार लोगों को रोजगार और 1 लाख 50 हजार से अधिक लोगों को परोक्ष रूप से रोजगार मिलने की उम्मीद है। एआईआर संवाददाता ने बताया कि अतिरिक्त मुख्य सचिव एमएसएमई डॉ। नवनीत सहगल ने कहा कि परियोजना कानपुर जिले के रमीपुर गांव में 268 क्षेत्र में स्थापित की जाएगी और 5850 करोड़ से अधिक के निवेश को आकर्षित करने की उम्मीद है।

पर्यावरण, वन और जलवायु परिवर्तन मंत्री प्रकाश जावड़ेकर ने नई दिल्ली में समुद्री मेगा फॉना स्ट्रैंडिंग दिशानिर्देश और राष्ट्रीय समुद्री कछुआ कार्य योजना जारी की है। दस्तावेजों में संरक्षण के लिए अंतर-क्षेत्रीय कार्रवाई को बढ़ावा देने के तरीके और साधन हैं। यह समुद्री स्तनधारियों के फंसे होने, चोट या मृत्यु दर और समुद्री कछुओं के संरक्षण के मामलों की प्रतिक्रिया पर सरकार, नागरिक समाज और सभी संबंधित हितधारकों के बीच बेहतर समन्वय का भी सुझाव देता है।

लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल चंडी प्रसाद मोहंती को सेना के नए उप-प्रमुख के रूप में नियुक्त किया गया है। वह लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल एसके सैनी से 1 फरवरी, 2021 को कार्यालय ग्रहण करेंगे, जो 31 जनवरी 2021 को सुपरनेचुरेट कर रहे हैं। लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल मोहंती राजपूत रेजिमेंट से जून 1982 बैच के इन्फैंट्री ऑफिसर हैं और वर्तमान में दक्षिणी क्षेत्र कमांडर हैं।

मंत्रिमंडल की नियुक्ति समिति (एसीसी) ने तीन साल की अवधि के लिए भारतीय स्टेट बैंक (एसबीआई) के नए प्रबंध निदेशक (एमडी) के रूप में स्वामीनाथन जानकीरमन और अश्विनी कुमार तिवारी की नियुक्ति को मंजूरी दे दी है। दिनेश कुमार खरा बैंक के वर्तमान अध्यक्ष हैं। बैंक के अन्य दो एमडी सी.एस. सेट्टी और अश्वनी भाटिया हैं। एसबीआई के एक अध्यक्ष और चार प्रबंध निदेशक हैं।
