Good Governance Day is observed on December 25
The National Good Governance day was first established in the year 2014. Indian International Science Festival 2020 concludes successfully
Indian International Science Festival 2020 concluded on 25th December, which is organised to attract young minds towards science and innovative research. In the backdrop of this festival two girls from Maharashtra have bagged a silver medal in the annual International Science and invention fair which was organised online in Indonesia. More than 350 projects from 40 different countries were showcased in this fair. Amruta Bapat and Gayatri Bedekar who are studying in A. K Joshi High School in Thane district of Maharashtra have done a remarkable job by making an award winning project for the international fair while continuing their online education in the difficult time of global pandemic.
Income Tax dept launches ‘Jhatpat Processing’ for quicker ITR filing
As the last date of filing income tax for FY 2019-20 is approaching, the Income Tax department has introduced a new initiative called, ‘Jhatpat Processing’ to smoothen the ITR filing experience for taxpayers. The ‘Jhatpat Processing’ feature will help individuals in filing tax returns quickly in a seamless manner. ‘Jhatpat Processing’ has started for ITR1 and ITR4. The Income Tax department has shared tutorial videos of compete procedure to file ITR1 and ITR4 under the new initiative on Youtube.
Indian economy will again overtake UK to become 5th largest economy in 2025: Think-Tank
A UK based think-tank, the Centre for Economics and Business Research, said that Indian economy will again overtake the UK to become the fifth largest economy in 2025 and race to the third spot by 2030. India had overtaken the UK in 2019 to become the fifth largest economy in the world but has been relegated to 6th spot this year.
PM Modi to inaugurate India’s first-ever driverless train on Delhi Metro’s Magenta Line
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate India’s first-ever driverless train operations on Delhi Metro’s Magenta Line through video conferencing. These innovations will herald a new era of travelling comfort and enhanced mobility. The driverless trains will be fully automated, which will eliminate the possibility of human error. After the start of driverless services on the Magenta Line between Janakpuri West to Botanical Garden, the Pink Line of Delhi Metro is expected to have driverless operations by the mid of 2021.
India adds Tso Kar wetland complex to Ramsar Site
India has added Tso Kar wetland complex to the Ramsar Site. Tso Kar, the 42nd Wetland of International Importance, is at more than 4,500 metres above sea level in the Changthang region of Ladakh. The complex includes two connected lakes, the freshwater Startsapuk Tso and the larger hypersaline Tso Kar, with presentation of a notable example of two such lakes existing in close proximity. The site is habitat of numerous threatened species including the endangered saker falcon (Falco cherrug) and Asiatic wild dog or dhole (Cuon alpinus laniger), and the vulnerable snow leopard (Panthera uncia).
Hardeep Singh Puri launches E-Sampada web portal and mobile app on Good Governance Day
Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri launched E-Sampada, a new web portal and mobile app on Good Governance Day. The new application provides a single window for all the services including allotment for over one lakh government residential accommodations, office space allotment to government organisations in 45 office complexes in 28 cities and booking of 1,176 holiday home rooms. The portal provides online facility to users across India to lodge complaints, submit documents and appear for virtual hearing.
ISRO developing ‘green propulsion’ for human space mission Gaganyaan
Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chairman K Sivan said the space agency was developing ‘green propulsion’ for its ambitious human space flight mission, ‘Gaganyaan’. He was addressing the 16th convocation of SRM Institute of Science and Technology. The ISRO chief encouraged them to take up calculated risk as it would safeguard them from ‘absolute failure.’
