51st IFFI to be held from 16th to 24th January next year in Goa
The 51st Edition of the International Film Festival of India, IFFI will be held from 16th to 24th January, next year in Goa. The postponement follows discussion between Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar and Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant. The festival will be conducted in a Virtual and Physical format.
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board to launch mobile app for live darshan
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board is devising new methods so that devotees unable to take nearly 12 Kms trek to the Holy Cave Shrine can still have Darshan from home. The Yatra to the holy Cave Shrine had resumed on the 6 August initially with a ceiling of 5000 pilgrims per day with safety procedures. The App, set to be launched on 17th October, the first day of Navratri, would also have features to conduct live Havan. Currently, the Aarti is being live-streamed on a religious TV Channel.
‘Mukhymantri Kisan Kalyan Yojana’ to be start in Madhya Pradesh
Mukhymantri Kisan Kalyan Yojana is being started in Madhya Pradesh on the lines of Pradhanmantri Kisan Samman Nidhi. Under this scheme, additional financial assistance of Rs. 4,000 will be given to the eligible beneficiaries of Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi.

Govt notifies Standards for Safety Evaluation of Hydrogen Fuel cells based vehicles
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has notified the Standards for Safety Evaluation of vehicles being propelled by Hydrogen Fuel Cells. This would facilitate the promotion of Hydrogen Fuel Cell based vehicles in the country which are energy efficient and environment friendly. These standards are also at par with the available international standards.
India aims to end tuberculosis by 2025
Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan has said that India has accorded high priority for ending tuberculosis by 2025, five years ahead of the Sustainable Development Goals. Dr Harsh Vardhan said this while addressing Ministers of Member Nations of WHO, Heads and Representatives of UN Agencies through virtual interaction yesterday. He spoke on India’s role and contribution towards strengthening multisectoral action and progress towards ending TB, especially in context of the COVID-19 crisis.
Railways target to complete 100% electrification of broad gauge routes by 2023
Railways has planned for 100 per cent electrification of its broad gauge routes by 2023. This was stated by the Railway Minister Piyush Goyal in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha. He said, a total of 23,765 route kilometre lines are yet to be electrified in the country.

Dr Sekhar Basu, Eminent Nuclear Scientist And Champion Of Mega Science Projects, Passes Away
Renowned Indian nuclear scientist Dr Sekhar Basu has passed away in Kolkata after he was reportedly suffering from COVID-19 and other kidney ailments. He was 68 years old. Dr Basu played key roles in advancing nuclear science and engineering in India. Most notably, he served as the director of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) before taking over as the chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission and secretary, Department of Atomic Energy (DAE).

Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi passed away Wednesday at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. Angadi was undergoing treatment for Covid-19. He was 65.
Australian cricketer Dean Jones dies of cardiac arrest in Mumbai
Former Australia batsman Dean Jones has died of cardiac arrest in a Mumbai hotel. The 59 year old Dean Mervyn Jones was part of the 1987 World Cup winning team. He had played 52 Tests and 164 ODIs for Australia. He was was one of the great ambassadors of the game associating himself with Cricket development across South Asia.
