World Refugee Day is observed on June 20
The United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) observes the World Refugee Day on June 20 each year to raise awareness of the situation of refugees throughout the world. Theme for 2021 is Together we heal, learn and shine. The United Nations General Assembly recognised the day on 4 December 2020.

Odisha CM announces “Aashirbad” scheme to provide financial support to orphans
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced a special scheme to provide financial support to the orphans. The scheme named as “Aashirbad”, is meant to offer financial support to the orphan children, who have lost both their parents, or either of the earning parents or the single parent. Under the scheme, different slabs of financial support, the maximum being Rs. 2500 per month, have been envisioned for such children in distress who been orphaned on or after the 1st of April 2020.

Tamil Nadu CM inaugurates scheme for Sri Lankan Tamils living in state
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin inaugurated a scheme for Sri Lankan Tamils living in the state. The Government will spend Rs five crore 42 lakh for the scheme which will benefit more than 13 thousand 553 Sri Lankan Tamils living outside the refugee camps. Each family will be given Rs. 4000 as Covid relief.

Madhya Pradesh Govt launches ‘Yuva Shakti Corona Mukti Abhiyan’
The Madhya Pradesh Government has launched ‘Yuva Shakti Corona Mukti Abhiyan’ involving youth to make the people aware of the COVID-19 pandemic and covid appropriate behaviour. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan while launching the programme said that about 10 lakh students of the colleges of the state will play an important role in the eradication of Corona.

India to host two day summit on Green Hydrogen Initiatives involving BRICS nations
India will host a two day summit on Green Hydrogen Initiatives starting Tuesday involving the BRICS nations. The prestigious event offers a platform to share their respective Green Hydrogen initiatives and views on how to take it to the next level in their own countries. The online event will be anchored by India’s largest power producer and one of the global energy majors, NTPC Ltd.

“Jaan Hai To Jahaan Hai” campaign to be launched to create awareness on Corona vaccination
Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has said that a nationwide “Jaan Hai To Jahaan Hai” awareness campaign will be launched on Monday to create awareness on Corona vaccination in rural and remote areas of the country. The campaign also aims to “Crush and Curb” the rumours and apprehensions, being spread by some vested interests regarding the on-going vaccination drive.

World’s Third-Largest Diamond Unearthed in Botswana
A 1,098-carat diamond has been discovered in Botswana, by Debswana Diamond Company, a joint venture between the government of Botswana and the South African diamond company De Beers. The newly discovered diamond is believed to be the third-largest gem-quality stone ever to be mined in the world. The largest diamond to be recovered till date is 3,106 carat Cullinan stone in South Africa in 1905, followed by the 1,109 carat Lesedi La Rona unearthed by Lucara Diamonds in Botswana in 2015.
