International Tea Day is celebrated on December 15
One of the world’s favourite beverages, tea is consumed largely all over the world. Trade Unions in 2005 had organised the International Tea Day campaign for the small tea growers and the civil organisations to put light on the issues that small growers were facing. Since 2005, 15th December every year is observed as International Tea Day.

Odisha CM announces ₹289.42 crore package for MSMEs
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik approved a stimulus package of ₹289.42 crore for MSMEs that have been facing stiff challenges amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The initiative will help entrepreneurs, mostly women and those from the weaker sections, to overcome unexpected challenges that came along with the pandemic.

Ladakh celebrates New Year ‘Losar’
People in Ladakh region are celebrating Ladakhi New Year, Losar on 15th December. Symbolic Losar celebrations and special prayers are held at Chokanga Vihara in Leh.

Indian Coast Guard Interceptor Boat commissioned at Hazira
Indian Coast Guard Interceptor Boat got commissioned at Hazira in Gujarat. This Interceptor boat is built indigenously by M/s L&T Jetty, Hazira and is capable of a high speed of 45 knots having capability to operate in shallow waters. This Interceptor Boat will operate from Gujarat under administrative and operational control of the Commander Coast Guard Region (NW).

Nation pays homage to Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel on his 70th death anniversary on 15th December. He was first Deputy Prime Minister of India and also held the Home portfolio. Fondly known as Iron Man of India, he brought together more than 500 princely States with India.

Norway Research Institute signs an MoU with Clean Ganga Mission for development of sludge management framework
Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research has signed an MoU with cGanga, a think-tank of National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) for development of sludge management framework in India. On this occasion, Norwegian Diplomat in India Karina Asbjørnsen, said, Norway intends to deepen relationship with India especially in prevention of climate change and conservation of environment.

India, UK hold delegation level talks on boosting cooperation in different areas
India and UK today held delegation level talks on strengthen cooperation in different areas including trade and prosperity, defence and security, climate and health. Visiting UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab met External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in New Delhi where the two leaders discussed how to give policy directions to broaden bilateral cooperation and encourage more activities and collaborations.

RBI slaps ₹50 lakh fine on Urban Co-operative Bank in Kerala
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a monetary penalty of ₹50.00 lakh on The Urban Co-operative Bank Ltd. No. 1758, Perinthalmanna for non-compliance with directions issued on Income Recognition and Asset Classification (IRAC) norms and on Management of Advances-UCBs. RBI also said that the action against the co-operative bank is based on deficiencies in regulatory compliance and is not intended to pronounce upon the validity of any transaction or agreement.

Department of Posts and India Post Payments Bank today unveiled a new digital payment app DakPay. The App is launched as part of its ongoing efforts to provide Digital Financial inclusion at the last mile across India. DakPay is not just a digital payment app but a suite of digital financial and assisted banking services provided by India Post and IPPB through the trusted Postal network across the nation to cater to the financial needs of various sections of the society.

Amazon India announced the launch of Amazon Saathi, a peer mentorship programme that will help sellers to exchange knowledge and share best practices. The new programme will help the sellers on Amazon and small and medium businesses (SMBs) across India to get access to a wealth of content presented by experienced sellers on the marketplace. Established Amazon sellers can engage with over 7 lakh sellers to share their learnings and experiences of operating an online business.
