Public Service Broadcasting Day is being observed today. The day is celebrated every year to commemorate the only visit of Mahatma Gandhi to the studio of All India Radio, Delhi in 1947. Jharkhand Assembly unanimously passes resolution seeking separate code for Adivasis
The Jharkhand Assembly unanimously passed a resolution seeking a separate code for Adivasis. The resolution, demanded provisions for a separate Adivasi/Sarna religious code for inclusion in the census register. After passage of the resolution, Chief Minister, Hemant Soren, said the religious code will enable to give an exact number of tribal communities, help document their population, preserve tribal languages, culture and history and help them avail their constitutional rights.
Maharashtra to observe National Unity Week from Nov 19 to 25
Maharashtra will observe the National Unity Week from 19th to 25th of November. Making an announcement in this regard, Minister for Skill Development and Minority Development Nawab Malik appealed that in order to increase social harmony in the state, everyone should participate in this programme.
Nirmala Sitharaman announces ₹10,000 crore to boost rural employment
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced an additional ₹10,000 crore to boost rural employment and accelerate growth in the rural economy. The ₹10,000 crore is to be funnelled into the rural sector through the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Rozgar Yojna. The rural jobs programme is seen as helping in reducing rural distress during the months of the lockdown.
Navy’s fifth Scorpene class submarine ‘Vagir’ launched at Mazagon Dock
In yet another boost for the Indian Navy, it’s fifth Scorpene class submarine ’Vagir’ was launched at Mumbai’s Mazagon Dock. According to an official statement, Union Minister of State for Defence, Shripad Naik launched the submarine through video conferencing.

National Rail and Transportation Institute, NRTI, Vadodara has launched seven new Programmes, two B. Tech UG Programmes, two MBA and three MSc Programmes in the core applied sector. The two B Tech Programs are focused on Rail Infrastructure, Rail Systems and Communications Engineering, while the MBA programs are focused at Transportation and Supply Chain Management. The MSc Programs are focused on Systems Engineering and Integration, Systems and Analytics, Policy and Economics.
AU Small Finance Bank starts operations in eastern India
AU Small Finance Bank, a scheduled commercial bank, started its operations in Eastern India with the setting up of a branch in the metropolis. Since the start of banking operations three and half years ago, AU has presently 710 touchpoints in 13 states and two UTs.
Paytm partners Uber India to offer postpaid service to riders
Financial services major Paytm said it has partnered Uber India to extend its postpaid service to riders. With this integration, users will be able to pay for their Uber rides through their Paytm Postpaid account. Paytm already has a long-standing partnership with Uber with its payment gateway allowing Uber riders to make instant payments from Paytm Wallet.
India Post Payments Bank launches doorstep service to submit Digital Life Certificate
India Post Payments Bank, IPPB have successfully launched the initiative of doorstep service for submission of Digital Life Certificate through Postman. The facility to submit life certificates online through Jeevan Pramaan Portal was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in November, 2014 with the objective to provide a convenient and transparent facility to pensioners for submission of Life Certificate.
HDFC to merge its health, general insurance
Mortgage lender HDFC Ltd said insurance regulator Irdai has given the final nod for merger of HDFC ERGO Health Insurance with HDFC ERGO General Insurance. Post completion of the merger, HDFC will hold 50.58% stake in HDFC ERGO.

SpiceJet appoints former MIAL executive Sanjiv Taneja as CFO
No-frills carrier SpiceJet Limited has appointed former Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) and Essar Port official Sanjiv Taneja as the airline’s chief financial officer (CFO). Taneja replaced Kiran Koteshwar who left SpiceJet in September to join Nigeria-based airline Green Africa.

Mumbai Indians beat Delhi Capitals by 5 wkts to clinch IPL title for record 5th time
Mumbai Indians clinched their record-extending fifth IPL title after beating Delhi Capitals by five wickets in the final at Dubai. Trent Boult was named Player of the Match. With this win, Mumbai added a fifth IPL title to their kitty, more than any other team in the 13-year history of the league.
Bahrain’s longest serving PM Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa passes away
The world’s longest serving Prime Minister, Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa of Bahrain, passed away. He was 84. Prince Khalifa, who took office after Bahrain gained independence in 1971, had been receiving treatment at a hospital in the US, the state media said. He was an uncle to the Bahraini King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa.
