National Safe Motherhood Day is observed on April 11
National Safe Motherhood Day is observed every year on April 11 to raise awareness about adequate access to care for women during pregnancy, childbirth and postnatal services. The day also marks the birth anniversary of Kasturba Gandhi, the wife of the father of Nation Mohan Das Karam Chand Gandhi.
World Parkinson’s Day is observed on April 11
Every year, April 11 is observed as World Parkinson’s Day to raise awareness of Parkinson’s disease, which is a progressive nervous system disorder. The day marks the birthday of Dr James Parkinson from London, who was the first person to systematically described the six individuals with the symptoms of Parkinson Disease.
International Day of Human Space Flight is observed on April 12
The International Day of Human Space Flight is celebrated annually on April 12 to mark the anniversary of the first human space flight by Yuri Gagarin on April 12, 1961. The day was proclaimed at the 65th session of the United Nations General Assembly on April 7, 2011, a few days before the 50th anniversary of the flight.
Piyush Goyal inaugurates e-SANTA, an electronic marketplace for aqua farmers
Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal inaugurated e-SANTA. It is an electronic marketplace providing a platform to connect aqua farmers and buyers. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Goyal said that e-SANTA will raise income, lifestyle, self-reliance, quality levels, traceability, and provide new options for aqua farmers.
NITI Aayog launches ‘Poshan Gyan’, a digital repository on health, nutrition
NITI Aayog, in partnership with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Centre for Social and Behaviour Change, Ashoka University today launched Poshan Gyan, a national digital repository on health and nutrition. The launch event was addressed by NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Dr Rajiv Kumar, CEO Amitabh Kant, Women and Child Development Secretary Ram Mohan Mishra and Additional Secretary Dr Rakesh Sarwal.
Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan launches construction of trans-border trade center
Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan have launched the construction of an international center for trade and economic cooperation named ‘Central Asia’ on the borders of the two countries, the Uzbek Government said. Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov and his Kazkazh counterpart Askar Mamim, laid a capsule at the construction site of the logistic centre, which is located in the vicinity of the border check post Gisht Kuprik.
Sanskrit learning app ‘Little Guru’ to be launched in Bangladesh
A Sanskrit learning app will be launched in Bangladesh by the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) of the High Commission of India. The Sanskrit learning app is part of the campaign being run by the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) to promote Sanskrit language among students, religious scholars, Indologists and historians across the world.

The Airtel Payments Bank has launched a new savings account called ‘Rewards123’ with a special feature under which customers will get certain benefits and value when they transact digitally using the bank account. The ‘Rewards123’ digital savings account is designed to offer consistent value, with assured rewards on different types of digital transactions throughout the year.
NCDC secures Rs 600 cr loan from Deutsche Bank
The National Cooperative Development Corporation, NCDC has secured 600 crore rupees loan from Deutsche Bank, Germany’s largest bank, for onward lending to cooperatives in the country. An agreement in this regard was inked today between NCDC and the German Bank in presence of Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar in New Delhi. The Minister also presided over signing of an agreement between the Indian Chamber of Commerce and NCDC to boost farmers linkages with markets.
Filmmaker Guneet Monga Honored with Second Highest Civilian French Honour
Ace Indian film producer Guneet Monga has been conferred with the second highest French civilian honour called “Honour of the Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters (Chevalier dans I’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres)”.
President appoints Sushil Chandra as Chief Election Commissioner of India
President Ram Nath Kovind has appointed Sushil Chandra, the senior-most Election Commissioner, as the Chief Election Commissioner of India. He will succeed Sunil Arora who demitted office. Before his appointment to the Election Commission, he was the chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes CBDT.
Punjab Government Ropes in Sonu Sood as Brand Ambassador for #Covid19 vaccination drive
The Government of Punjab, led by Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, has roped in Bollywood actor and philanthropist Sonu Sood as the brand ambassador for the anti-coronavirus vaccination programme in the state.
Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju inaugurates KICE in Rowing in Srinagar
Union sports minister Kiren Rijiju inaugurated the Khelo India Centre of Excellence in Rowing in Srinagar. The training centre, situated in Dal Lake, comes under the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council was upgraded with modern facilities and equipment including 16 new boats. Four coxless four boats too have been purchased for the centre that has 50 regular athletes under the scheme.
Eminent Historian Yogesh Praveen passes away
Eminent Historian and an expert on Awadh especially Lucknow Yogesh Praveen passed away. He was 82. Awarded with Padma Shri in 2019 he had a long association with All India Radio Lucknow also.
