Bombay HC declares ‘ISKCON’ is a well-known trademark
The Bombay high court (HC) on Friday declared that the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) to be a “well-known trademark” that enjoys protection under the provisions of the Trade Marks Act, 1999. ISKCON authorities had moved the HC, seeking a permanent injunction against Iskcon Apparel Private Limited, a private enterprise, for infringing on its registered trademark. The issue was resolved after a director of the firm informed the HC that they have changed the company’s name to Alcis Sports Private Limited, and also gave an undertaking of not using ISKCON’s name in the future. The court also upheld the global Krishna consciousness movement’s plea that ISKCON comes under the purview of the Trade Marks Act, 1999.

Australia Closes State Border For First Time In 100 Years To Stop Coronavirus
The border between Australia’s two most populous states will close from Tuesday for an indefinite period, Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews said on Monday, following an outbreak of the coronavirus in his state. The decision marks the first time the border with neighbouring New South Wales has been shut in 100 years – officials last blocked movement between the two states in 1919 during the Spanish flu pandemic.
Sovereign Gold Bond to open for subscription today, issue price fixed at Rs 4,852 per gm
The fourth instalment of the Sovereign Gold Bond (SGB) scheme, issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on behalf of the government, will open for subscription for five days from Monday. The Sovereign Gold Bond Scheme 2020-21-Series IV will be opened for subscription for the period between July 6 and July 10. The issue price for the Sovereign Gold Bond has been fixed at Rs 4,852 per gram of gold.
