Kerala plans to provide tap connections to all rural households by 2023
Kerala govt has planned to provide tap connections to every rural household by 2023. Out of total 67.15 lakh rural households, the state is making efforts to achieve the target of 21.42 lakh FHTCs in 2020-21. In 2019-20, against a target of 10.10 lakh rural households, state could provide tap connections to only 85,476 households.

ABB India opens new robotics facility in Bengaluru
ABB India announced opening of a new facility here that would enable it to deliver robotic applications and digital solutions for a variety of industries, including automotive, food & beverage, electronics and other upcoming sectors. Spread over 3,600 sq.m at the ABB Nelamangala factory premises in Bengaluru, the robotics solutions facility houses a state-of-the-art shop floor that can run proof of concepts and factory acceptance tests for 1,000 ABB robots every year, which doubles the company’s capacity.

J&K Legal Services Authority to organise E-Lok Adalat on August 22
The Jammu & Kashmir State Legal Services Authority, under the guidance of Chief Justice J&K High Court, Gita Mittal, would be organising E-Lok Adalat to be conducted exclusively through different digital modes, on Saturday 22nd of August 2020.

Using mobile phones while driving will attract ₹10,000 penalty in Uttar Pradesh
The Uttar Pradesh government has hiked the penalty for using mobile phones while driving. Under the new rules, a penalty of ₹10,000 will be imposed on those using mobile phones while driving. This is being done to ensure stricter adherence to traffic laws in the state and improve road safety.

Gujarat became second state after Andhra Pradesh to come up with a latest police manual
Gujarat has become the second state after Andhra Pradesh to come up with a latest manual for the police in recent times. The new manual has been drafted for the Gujarat police force after a gap of 45 years. The new manual will be uploaded on the ”Pocket Cop” mobile application in the form of an e-book to maximise its reach among the police fraternity.

Ayush Minister launches dedicated Web-Portal for National AYUSH Mission
The Minister launched a dedicated web-portal for National AYUSH Mission to submit their annual action plans, utilisation certificates, physical and financial progress reports, information related to DBT etc. to the Ministry, as a move to bring in transparency. The Minister also released four publications including operational guidelines for establishment of AYUSH HWCs.

Supreme Court bans registration of BS-IV vehicles till further orders
Supreme Court on Friday barred the registration of BS-IV vehicles till further orders. The apex court also expressed displeasure on the sale of large number of vehicles in March during Covid-induced lockdown. The top court will hear the matter again on August 13.

ITBP became first CAPF to have supplies from KVIC
Indo Tibetan Border Police, ITBP became the first Central Armed Police Force CAPF to have supplies from the Khadi & Village Industries Commission, KVIC. An agreement was signed between the ITBP and the KVIC in New Delhi between Chairman, KVIC, Vinay Kumar Saxena and Senior officers of Provisioning Directorate, ITBP. According to the agreement, total 1200 Quintal of Mustard Oil is being procured from KVIC by ITBP with a total financial implication of 1 Crore 73 Lakh 80 Thousand rupees.

Housing Minister Hardeep Singh Puri releases Affordable Rental Housing Complexes Knowledge Pack
Union Housing Minister Hardeep Singh Puri released Affordable Rental Housing Complexes (ARHC) Knowledge Pack. This includes MoUs to be signed with States and Union Territories to provide ease of living to urban migrants in the country. The Union Cabinet had approved ARHC as a sub scheme under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) earlier this month to provide housing facility to migrant workers and urban poor.

Health Minister Harsh Vardhan chairs 19th meeting of high-level GoMs on COVID-19
Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan chaired the 19th meeting of the high-level Group of Ministers on COVID-19 in New Delhi. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Harsh Vardhan said, India has achieved the milestone of more than ten lakh recoveries which has taken the recovery rate to 64.54 per cent. This shows that the active cases under medical supervision are only 33.27 per cent or approximately one third of total positive cases. He said, India’s Case Fatality Rate is also progressively reducing and currently stands at 2.18 per cent, one of the lowest globally.

Phase Five of Vande Bharat Mission to start from August 1
Phase Five of the Vande Bharat Mission is scheduled to start from the first of August. A total of 792 flights which include 692 international flights and 100 domestic flights have been scheduled under this phase to repatriate Indians from 23 countries. These include GCC countries, US, Cananda, UK, Germany, France, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, China, Israel, and Kyrgyzstan. Briefing media last evening, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said, these flights would cater to 21 different airports in India and repatriate a total of one lakh thirty thousand Indians stranded abroad.

Reliance Power Bangladesh JV signs $642-million loan to fund 745 MW gas-fired project
Reliance Bangladesh LNG & Power Limited has signed a $642 million loan to fund its 745 MW gas-fired power project in India’s eastern neighbour, a Reliance Power release said today. The plant will be located about 40 kms southeast of capital Dhaka. The company agreed on an end-to-end power equipment purchase and construction contract with Samsung C&T in July. Reliance Bangladesh LNG & Power is a 51:49 joint venture between Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group’s Reliance Power and Japan’s JERA Co Inc.

Bangladesh begins registration of online news portals
The Bangladesh Government released its first list of verified news portal. Announcing this in Dhaka, Information Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud said, the registration of online news portals will be a continuous and ongoing process. He said it is just the beginning of the process. It may not have names of many well established online news portals but that does not mean that there is a negative report about these news portals. The reports about many of the news portals have not yet been received, said Dr. Mahmud. He said the names of the news portals for which No-objection certificates have been received by the government will be uploaded on the official website.

Punjab National Bank has decided to infuse ₹600 crore in PNB Housing Finance, an housing finance company promoted by the state-run bank.

Canara Bank ties up with three insurers to provide Corona Kavach policies
Canara Bank has tied-up with three insurance companies to sell short-term Corona Kavach policy to cover COVID-19 related health expenses. The bank has tied up with New India Assurance Company Ltd, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Co Ltd and HDFC ERGO Health Insurance as part of social commitment to indemnify the unprecedented expenses of common man. Bank in association with the tied-up insurance companies has launched the Corona Kavach Policies at a very competitive premium structure, starting with as low as ₹300.

MobiKwik launches personal UPI payment link mpay.me
FinTech company MobiKwik launched me – a UPI payment link service to send and receive money from any UPI payment app. Through mpay.me, users and merchants can set up a link using their mobile number to start receiving money.

Tata Capital Growth Fund to invest ₹225 Crore in Biocon Biologics
Biotechnology major Biocon said Tata Capital Growth Fund will invest USD 30 million ( ₹225 crore) in its subsidiary Biocon Biologics to acquire 0.85 per cent equity stake in the company. Biocon said the board of its subsidiary Biocon Biologics India has approved a primary equity investment by Tata Capital Growth Fund.

Google launches new ad privacy features, tools
To allow more transparency and give users better control over the ads they see online, Google has launched a new feature called ‘About this ad’ which will appear on all ads including political ones on its platforms. The feature will show users the verified name of the advertiser behind each ad and will be initially available for display ads purchased through Google Ads.

Malayalam actor Anil Murali, who made his mark through villain roles, passed away in Kochi. He was 51.
