The famous art of ‘Atikoppaka’ dolls of Visakhapatnam district finds a place in the “Mann ki Baat” programme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the Mann Ki Baat speech, PM Modi made a special mention of the famous Atikoppaka dolls saying that the toys would be useful to unleash the creativity in children in the current Pandemic situation. Atikoppaka artist CV Raju, whose work was appreciated by the Prime Minister said, he is happy to be mentioned in “Mann Ki Baat” besides attracting the center of uniqueness. He said, it should be considered as a good opportunity for the village.

BJP to celebrate PM Modi’s birthday as ‘Seva Saptah’ from Sep 14-20
The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday on September 17 by observing Seva Saptah from 14th to 20th September. Prime minister will turn 70 this year.

Indigenous toy-making to be introduced as theme in Kala Utsav encourage students to explore, develop variety of local toys
Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has informed that in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Toy and Puppet making skills will be developed among school students. He said, indigenous toy-making will be introduced as a theme in Kala Utsav to encourage students to explore and develop a variety of local toys. Dr. Nishank also called for initiating puppet show in Kala Utsav for secondary and higher secondary students.

India withdraws from multilateral military exercise in Russia next month
India has announced that it is withdrawing from multilateral Military Exercise Kavkaz 2020 to be held in Russia next month. Defence Ministry said, Russia and India are close and privileged strategic partners and at Russia’s invitation India has been participating in many international events.

India, ASEAN countries agree to review free trade agreement to make it simple, facilitative
India and ASEAN countries have agreed to review the free trade agreement to make it more user friendly, simple and facilitative. The review will make the ASEAN India trade in Goods Agreement (AITIGA) modern with contemporary trade facilitative practices, and streamlined customs and regulatory procedures. Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal while co-chairing the 17th ASEAN-India Economic Ministers Consultations said the Free Trade Agreement has to be mutually beneficial and a win-win for all sides.

India co-sponsors UN security council resolution on women peacekeepers
India has co-sponsored a security council resolution that calls for full, effective and meaningful participation of women personnel in peacekeeping operations. In a tweet, India’s Permanent Mission to the UN said that India is proud to co-sponsor the resolution which was put forth by Indonesia. The mission said UN Security Council Resolution on ‘women in peacekeeping’ calls for full, effective and meaningful participation of women in peacekeeping operations. India is one of the largest troop contributors to UN peacekeeping operations. The mission said India has set for itself during its tenure in the Security Council beginning 2021 that India will continue to push for greater involvement of women in all areas.

Singapore to offer free COVID-19 tests to taxi drivers, delivery workers
Singapore will offer free coronavirus tests to community groups such as taxi drivers, food delivery workers and hawkers as part of efforts to expand the COVID-19 testing regime.

Finance Ministry asks banks to refund charges collected after 1st Jan’20 on electronic transactions
The Finance Ministry has asked banks to immediately refund the charges collected after 1st of January this year on transactions carried out using the electronic mode prescribed under the IT act. The Ministry also advised banks not to impose charges on any future transaction carried out through the electronic mode.

Para swimmer Satyendra Singh first Divyang sportsperson of country to get prestigious Adventure Award
Para-swimmer Satyendra Singh Lohia of Madhya Pradesh is the first Divyanga Indian sportsperson of the country, who has been awarded today with the Tenzing Norgay Adventure Award. He is also the first Asian Divyang swimmer to cross the 42-kilometer Catalina Channel in the US in just 11 hours 34 minutes.

Asteroid over 22 and 49 metres in diameter to pass by Earth
An asteroid with diameters between 22 and 49 metres will shoot pass Earth in a distance closer than Earth from the Moon on September 1, according to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). NASA estimates the asteroid’s relative speed at around 8.16 kilometres per second. The last time asteroid 2011 ES4 fly by the Earth was visible from ground for four days.

Alexander Kristoff won the opening stage of the Tour de France, the annual multiple stage bicycle race. Rain made the roads treacherous and led to several crashes.
