Delhi aims at 25% green cover in next three years
The Delhi government has set an ambitious target to increase the city’s green cover from 22% at present to 25% in the next three years. Delhi’s green cover can be increased to 25% of its total area of 1,484 sq km. It means 45 sq km land is available with various departments in Delhi for afforestation purposes.

Delhi government schools give fitness training to students via YouTube channel
Delhi government schools have found a way to take physical education classes online as well. From yoga, to Zumba, to aerobics, now weekly videos are posted on YouTube for students to view and practise. Since June, classes in all government schools are being held online. But extra-curricular activities were till now stalled due to the pandemic since March.

Grape cultivation & food processing taken up under “One Crop, One District” scheme in Ariyalur district, Tamil Nadu
Grape cultivation and food processing based on grapes is being taken up as a major initiative under the “One Crop, One District” scheme in Ariyalur district of Tamil Nadu near Trichy. At present more than 25,000 acres of land is being utilised in various panchayats of the district like Andimadham and Jayakondam for grape cultivation and setting up vineyards. The One District One Crop scheme, which is part of the Atmanirbhar initiative of the Central government, will make fund availability and access to business easier.

Ladakh observes first Martyrs Day after becoming Union Territory
Ladakh has observed the first Martyrs Day, after becoming a Union Territory. In a low key programme organised by the Ladakh Buddhist Association, at Martyrs Memorial in Leh, senior leaders of various political parties paid homage to martyrs who laid down their lives in the agitations for Scheduled Tribes status, and Union Territory status to Ladakh.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has said that, “Chase the Virus” strategy will be executed across the state to break the chain of Corona Virus. He was inaugurating the 816 bed Jumbo Covid Facility in Pimpri of Pune District. He said that due to this strategy the pandemic was brought under control in many hotspots in the state. He said it is necessary for the health machinery to reach the symptomatic patients through this strategy. Pune is becoming fully equipped to fight the pandemic with two Jumbo Covid Facilities within a week.

Gujarat has been ranked first in the first ever Export Preparedness index 2020 released by NITI Ayog. It is the first of its kind index on the lines of ease of doing business ranking, which has ranked all the states and Union Territories on various parameters of export preparedness and competitiveness.

Maharashtra govt slashes stamp duty by 3% until Dec 2020
Maharashtra government decided to reduce stamp duty on housing units by 3% until 31 December 2020 to boost the real estate market that has been hit by the pandemic. In Maharashtra, stamp duty charges are 5% in key cities such as Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, and Nashik and 6% in others. A reduction of 2-3% in rates will result in handsome savings for home buyers.

In Assam, the Kaziranga National park is planning various measures for the safety of the wildlife. The park Director P Shivkumar told AIR that flood water damaged infrastructure this year to the tune of 5 crore rupees. The Director of the World Heritage Site said that a 32 kilometer long highway cum highland to be constructed. He further said that construction work to be started in winter period.

Manipur Health Minister launches Teleconsultation using eSanjeevaniOPD platform in Imphal
Manipur State Health and Family Welfare Minister L. Jayantakumar Singh launched Teleconsultation using eSanjeevaniOPD platform in Imphal. This is the first kind of such platform in the state. The State government has engaged 30 doctors to perform the newly launched service at initial stage. The government has also been working to target 220 health centres at different locations of the State to cover under the service in near future.

Indian Railways is set to meet all it’s energy needs of more than 33 billion units by 2030. The current annual requirement is about 21 billion units. Railways Minister Piyush Goyal said, Railways have developed a mega plan for installing solar plants of 20 Gigawaat capacity by utilizing its vacant land by 2030.

IIT Madras to organise crash courses for rural learners
The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) said it was coordinating a “national effort to create crash courses” for rural learners affected by the coronavirus-induced lockdown and the lectures will be telecast on educational television channels. The content is provided by NPTEL, IITs, UGC, CEC, IGNOU, NCERT and NIOS. The schedule of lectures are available and will be updated on the website of DTH channel for education, Swayam Prabha.

Dr Reddy’s launches Wilson’s disease treatment capsules in US
Pharma major Dr Reddy’s Laboratories said it has launched generic Penicillamine capsules, used for treatment of Wilson’s disease and cystinuria, in the US market. The company announced the launch of Penicillamine capsules USP in the strength of 250 mg after it was approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration. The capsules are indicated in the treatment of Wilson’s disease, cystinuria, and in patients with severe, active rheumatoid arthritis.

India provides COVID-19 support to St Lucia
India gifted medical supplies, protective gear to the government of St Lucia as a tool to assist in tackling the COVID-19 pandemic, informed the Development Partnership Administration (DPA) of External Affairs Ministry of India. St Lucia has a total of 26 COVID-19 cases, as per the latest update provided by Johns Hopkins University.

Dubai sets up trading platform to boost food imports from India
A freezone in Dubai has established an agricultural trading platform to connect Indian farmers with food companies in the United Arab Emirates, as the Gulf Arab country seeks to enhance its food security amid disruption of supply chains caused by the coronavirus. Dubai Multi Commodities Centre’s platform, named Agriota and developed with India’s CropData Technology, will enable trading in cereals, pulses, oil seeds, fruits, vegetables, spices and condiments.

Public sector lender Punjab and Sind Bank has declared its exposure of ₹815.44 crore to Dewan Housing Finance Corp Ltd (DHFL) as fraud. With outstanding dues of ₹815.44 crore has been declared as fraud and reported to RBI as per regulatory requirement.

HSBC India on Wednesday introduced Omni Collect — a one-stop solution to provide multiple payment options on single platform. The aim is to simplify the way businesses collect payments through various digital modes. With this, the businesses can offer various digital payment modes to their customers. It also helps them with a comprehensive view of their collections. With single API connectivity, HSBC will be able to support both in-store as well as online purchases across multiple providers. Job portal Monster.com said it has partnered with the National Association of Software and Service Companies (Nasscom) as its exclusive talent search partner for small and medium- sized enterprises. HAI ties-up with Naukri.com to create alternate livelihoods for hospitality work
The Hotel Association of India (HAI) said it has entered into a partnership with Naukri.com to create alternative employment opportunities for hotel industry workforce hit hard by the COVID-19 crisis. HAI and Naukri.com have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to assist those whose jobs have been affected due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With this partnership, HAI and Naukri.com have laid the ground to support over 3,00,000 people whose jobs were eroded during the pandemic that had a spiralling negative impact on the hospitality and tourism industry.

OnePlus India R&D centre will be largest such facility by 2022
Chinese smartphone company OnePlus’ India R&D facility is making a significant contribution, especially in software development, and is poised to become its largest research facility globally by 2022. The R&D facility, set up in Hyderabad a year ago by the premium smartphone player, has over 300 employees.
