Union HRD Minister launched YUKTI 2.0 platform for Higher Education Institutes in New Delhi
Union Minister of Human Resource Development Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ launched an initiative ‘YUKTI 2.0’ on 23 June 2020 in New Delhi. The initiative aims to help systematically assimilate technologies having commercial potential and information related to incubated startups in higher education institutions. YUKTI stands for Young India combating COVID with Knowledge, Technology & Innovation

PM CARES allocates Rs.2000 crore to fight COVID-19 pandemic
Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES Fund) Trust has allocated Rs.2000 crore for supply of 50000 Made-in-India ventilators to government-run COVID-19 hospitals in all States/Union Territories (UT). Further, a sum of Rs. 1000 crore has been allocated for the welfare of migrant labourers.

YUKTI 2.0: Platform for Higher Education Institutes
The Ministry of Human Resource Development has launched an initiative ‘YUKTI 2.0’ to help systematically assimilate technologies having commercial potential and information related to incubated startups in higher education institutions. YUKTI 2.0 is an extension of ‘YUKTI (Young India combating Covid with Knowledge, Technology and Innovation) Portal’ which was launched to identify ideas relevant in Covid pandemic.

USA has decided to extend the ban on immigrant and non-immigrant worker visas
USA has decided to extend the 60-day ban on immigrant and non-immigrant worker visas till the end of 2020. The ban is effective immediately so the processing of all new H-1B, H-2B, J and L visa categories stands suspended. There will be an exemption for professors and scholars on J visas as well as for some food industry workers needing an H-2B visa.

CBIC unveiled a Secure QR coded Shipping Bill
The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) unveiled a Secure QR coded Shipping Bill that would be electronically sent to exporters. This will enable end to end paperless exports under ‘Turant Customs’. This step has been taken by CBIC for fulfilling its commitment to a Faceless, Paperless, and Contactless Customs under the umbrella of its “Turant Customs” programme.

India imposed anti-dumping duty on imports of certain types of steel products from China, Vietnam and South Korea.
India imposed anti-dumping duty on imports of certain types of steel products from China, Vietnam and South Korea. The anti-dumping duty was imposed after the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR), in its probe, found that the steel products imported in India from these three countries were below its associated normal value, which resulted in dumping. According to global trade norms, including the World Trade Organization (WTO) regime, a country is allowed to impose tariffs on such dumped products to provide a level-playing field to domestic manufacturers.

China launched last BeiDou Satellite System
China launched the satellite of the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System 3 (BDS-3) from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest China’s Sichuan Province on 23 June 2020. BDS-3 Satellite was carried by a Long March-3B carrier rocket. It is the 30th BDS-3 satellite and also the 55th of the whole BeiDou satellite family. BDS-3 will offer its users services including high-precision positioning and short message communication.
