The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to allow paid quarantine facility for asymptomatic COVID-19 patients in hotels, according to a statement. It has fixed the charges of double-occupancy rooms in hotels at Rs 2,000 per day.

Mega food park launched in Mizoram
Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal launched a food park in Mizoram that will benefit 25,000 farmers and create 5,000 jobs, an official statement said. The park will leverage an additional investment of about Rs 250 crore in about 30 food processing units in the park and would eventually lead to a turnover of about Rs 450-500 Crores annually.

Thiruvananthapuram railway division sets up development unit to woo freight customers
Southern Railway’s Thiruvananthapuram division has set up a business development unit to woo freight customers, and increase its share of freight traffic, as well as help logistics partners with ease of doing business (EoDB). The Maharashtra government will soon implement a foster care policy for the protection and rehabilitation of children. A district-level committee headed by collector will prepare the list of foster parents and seek report on whether they are fit to provide care to the child. Government to boost development of Buddhist tourism, starts with promotional activities
As more states open up to tourists with a string of safeguards in place, the tourism ministry is lending a helping hand with its “Dekho Apna Desh” campaign and pitching India as the land of Buddha. With an eye on China and Buddhist countries in the neighbourhood, tourism minister Prahlad Patel emphasised the need to bring more Buddhist tourists to India, asking tour operators last week why India receives only a fraction of them.

Bengaluru-headquartered tech firm Infosys on Monday announced a partnership with Germany- based LANXESS, a specialty chemicals company, manufacturing chemical intermediates, additives, specialty chemicals. Infosys said it would transform LANXESS to a future- ready end-user IT landscape to ensure a seamless and harmonised workplace experience for LANXESSs global workforce.

India’s debt to GDP ratio may rise to 87.6%: SBI Ecowrap
India’s debt to gross domestic product (GDP) ratio could climb to 87.6% this fiscal, up from 72.2% last year, due to a collapsing GDP and consequently higher borrowings, according to a research note by SBI Ecowrap. The country’s gross debt is likely to be around Rs170 lakh crore in FY21 as compared to Rs146.9 lakh crore in FY20, says a report by SBI.

GSK to take 10% stake in Germany’s CureVac for $163 million
Britain’s GSK said on Monday it would invest 130 million pounds ($163 million) to buy a 10% stake in Germany’s CureVac, launching a collaboration to develop up to five mRNA-based vaccines with technology already being used by the biotech company to develop a COVID-19 vaccine. CureVac’s existing COVID-19 mRNA and rabies vaccines research programmes are not included in the deal.

UAE’s Amal spacecraft rockets toward Mars in Arab world 1st
United Arab Emirates spacecraft rocketed into blue skies from a Japanese launch center Monday at the start of a seven-month journey to Mars on the Arab world’s first interplanetary mission. Amal is set to reach Mars in February 2021, the year the UAE celebrates 50 years since the country’s formation. Amal, about the size of a small car, carries three instruments to study the upper atmosphere and monitor climate change while circling the red planet for at least two years.

Glaxo to collaborate with CureVac on mRNA Covid-19 vaccines
GlaxoSmithKline Plc agreed to work with Germany’s CureVac on as many as five novel mRNA vaccines that will target infectious diseases as Covid-19 pushes companies and governments to focus on future pandemic threats. Glaxo will invest 130 million pounds in CureVac and provide an upfront payment of 104 million pounds for a research program to find and develop mRNA vaccines and monoclonal antibodies.
