Delhi govt cancels all state university exams amid Covid-19 crisis

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey Donates $3 Million to Test Universal Basic Income
Twitter chief executive Jack Dorsey has said he will donate $3 million (roughly Rs. 22.55 crores) to a group of US mayors to experiment with the creation of universal basic income. The sum will go to the group Mayors for a Guaranteed Income (MGI), a coalition of leaders from 16 cities who are in favour of universal basic income — regular payments to residents generally meant to fight poverty and meet citizens’ basic needs.
Apple Supplier Foxconn Said to Plan $1 Billion Investment in India
Foxconn plans to invest up to $1 billion (roughly Rs. 7,516 crores) to expand a factory in southern India where the Taiwanese contract manufacturer assembles Apple iPhones, two sources said. The move, the scale of which has not previously been reported, is part of a quiet and gradual production shift by Apple away from China as it navigates disruptions from a trade war between Beijing and Washington and the coronavirus crisis.
Rudrendra Tandon is India’s next envoy to Afghanistan
Modi government has decided to appoint Rudrendra Tandon as the new envoy to Afghanistan and Vikram Doraiswami as high commissioner to Dhaka. Tandon, a 1994 batch Indian Foreign Service officer is considered an Afghanistan specialist with stints in Kabul, Jalalabad and has headed Pakistan-Afghanistan-Iran desk in the external affairs ministry. He is currently the Indian envoy to ASEAN at Jakarta. Tandon replaces Vinay Kumar who has performed admirably with the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan after striking a deal with Taliban insurgents.
Dunzo Discloses Data Breach That Exposed User Details
Google-backed delivery services startup Dunzo on Saturday revealed that it had identified a data breach impacting one of its customer databases. The firm said that hackers gained unauthorised access to the database that contained the phone numbers and email addresses of its users. The exact number of users compromised by the attack wasn’t provided by Dunzo. However, it underlined that no payment information including credit card numbers was exposed due to the breach. The tech team at Dunzo also rotated all its access tokens and updated all passwords as a precaution to mitigate further issues.
England World Cup winner Jack Charlton dies at 85
Jack Charlton, an uncompromising central defender who played alongside his brother, Bobby, in England’s World Cup-winning side in 1966 before enjoying coaching success with Ireland, has died. He was 85. Nicknamed “Big Jack,” and celebrated for his earthy “beer and cigarettes” image, Charlton was Footballer of the Year in England in 1967. He spent all his club career at Leeds from 1952-73, tying its all-time record of 773 appearances. He won every domestic honor, including the league title in 1969.
