UPSC CDS is one of the most competitive exams in India for UPSC job. Combined Defence Services Examination commonly known as CDS is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment of Commissioned Officers in Indian Army, Navy and Air Force. The exam is held twice a year usually in February and September. Lakhs of candidates appear for the national level defence entrance examination.

UPSC released the official notification of the CDS 1 2020 examination at the official site on 8th January 2020. According to the CDS 2020 notification PDF, there is a total of 418 CDS and INAC vacancies released. This exam consists of two stages such as the written test and SSB Interview. Both men and women can apply for several posts of 418 vacancies offered by CDS Exam. The Application Fees is 200/- which need to be paid online in the Application Procedure.

What is the salary of a UPSC CDS officer?

There is no CDS officer as such. After selection, the candidates are taken in as GC or LC in the respective academy. Post training, they are inducted as Lieutenant in Indian Army and equitable posts in other forces.

The cadets are eligible for their monthly pay under CDS of Rs 56,100 per month. During the training, the cadets can a fixed stipend of Rs 6000 per month for pocket expenses in OTA and Rs 12,000 per month in other academies. The arrear is released as soon as the cadets complete their training.

How many attempts can be made for CDS?

The minimum age eligibility is 20 years. A candidate of age, possessing all the other eligibilities and below the maximum age can apply for each time the notification comes during that time.

Which book is best for CDS exam?

NCERT books of classes 6-12 form the basic material for the course. The content of these classes is very crucial in fact and concept building. In addition to this, one can refer to ‘CDS Pathfinder’ for a holistic syllabus structure.
