Manipur CM launches MHIM Mobile App for home isolation patients
Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh launched Manipur Home Isolation Management (MHIM) Mobile Application for home isolation patients. The Mobile App has been developed with a mission to avail real time health data and information of Home Isolation COVID-19 patients at monitoring level. With this App, patients can upload their health status including Pulse rate, SPo2, Body Temperature and Blood Pressure among others using fixed parameters at fixed intervals as set by the Health Department from time to time.

Punjab’s Mohali International Hockey Stadium renamed after Balbir Singh Senior
The Mohali International Hockey Stadium in Punjab, has officially been renamed as “Olympian Balbir Singh Senior International Hockey Stadium”. Balbir ji was a three-time Olympic Gold Medallist, wining in London (1948), Helsinki (1952) as vice-captain, and Melbourne (1956) as captain. He was also the Manager & Chief Coach of India’s only World Cup-winning side in 1975. He was conferred with the Padma Shri in 1957.

Maharashtra Launches Scheme “Mission Oxygen Self-Reliance” to Meet Oxygen Need
To meet its growing oxygen needs, the Maharashtra Government has launched a scheme named “Mission Oxygen Self-Reliance”. Under this scheme, the state government will provide special incentives to oxygen producing industries so as to meet the increasing demand for Liquid Medical Oxygen in the state. The current oxygen generation capacity of the state is 1300 MT per day. Through this new scheme, state government aims to achieve the target of producing 3000 MT of oxygen per day.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh launches SeHAT OPD Portal
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh launched the ‘Services e-Health Assistance & Tele-consultation (SeHAT) OPD Portal via video conferencing. The Portal will help the Armed Forces in providing tele-medicine services. Mr Singh said , this shows government’s commitment to e-governance and digital India. The minister complimented all the Armed forces for serving the people with utmost dedication during this second wave of Covid-19.

India becomes second country after U.S. to administer over 20 cr COVID vaccine doses
India has administered around 20 crore 27 lakh doses of COVID-19 vaccine in the country so far. Union Health Ministry said, more than 18 lakh 85 thousand vaccine doses were administered. The Ministry said, after the USA, India is the second country to achieve the 20 crore Vaccination doses landmark. India had launched the world’s largest Vaccination drive on 16th of January this year.

The 74th session of World Health Assembly (WHA) has been organised virtually from 24 May to 1 June 2021. World Health Assembly is the decision-making body of World Health Organization (WHO). The 74th World Health Assembly elected Dechen Wangmo, Bhutan’s Minister of Health, as the President of WHA. Apart from this 5 vice president of WHA were also elected which includes Benin, Estonia, Guatemala, Mongolia, Qatar. Theme of WHA74: Ending this pandemic, preventing the next: building together a healthier, safer and fairer world.

NPCI Partners Turkish firm PayCore for RuPay SoftPoS
The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has partnered with PayCore, a Turkish global payment solutions company, to develop SoftPoS solutions for its card network RuPay. The SoftPoS (Software Point of Sale) is a new technology which will allow merchants to accept payments from contactless card, digital wallets or/and wearables, directly on their smartphone or devices, enabled with NFC (near field communication) capability, without the need for any additional software. Using the RuPay SoftPoS, merchants can accept contactless payments of up to Rs. 5000, through a simple tap and pay mechanism on their smartphones, without any OTP or PIN.

APPOINTMENTS & RESIGNATIONS

IB and RAW chief get one year extension
The Appointments committee of the Cabinet has approved a one year extension to both Chief of the country’s premier intelligence agency – Intelligence Bureau ( IB) and Research & Analysis Wing ( R&AW). IB Director Arvinda Kumar’s tenure has been extended by one year till June 30 next year. Similarly, R&AW Secretary Samant Kumar Goel will also continue in office till June 30 next year. Both the officers had tenure till 30th June this year.

Anatole Collinet Makosso Takes Charge as Prime Minister of Republic of the Congo
The President of the Republic of the Congo, Denis Sassou-Nguesso, has appointed Anatole Collinet Makosso as the new prime minister of the country.

Guillermo Lasso sworn in as President of Ecuador
The former banker, businessman, writer and politician Guillermo Lasso , has been appointed as the President of Ecuador. The 65-year-old took over as the 47th president of Ecuador.

Achinta Sheuli bags silver medal (73 kg) at Junior World Weightlifting Championships 2021 in Tashkent
Indian weightlifter Achinta Sheuli ended with the silver medal in the men’s 73 kilogram category at the Junior World Weightlifting Championships 2021 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan yesterday. Achinta Sheuli, a national champion, lifted a total of 313 kg (141 kg snatch and 172 kg clean and jerk) to finish behind Indonesia’s Rizki Juniansyah, who lifted a world record 349 kg (155 kg snatch and 194 kg clean and jerk) for the gold medal.
