India is Celebrating 72nd Republic Day on 26 January 2021
India is observing the 72nd Republic Day on 26 January 2021, with celebrations at the majestic Rajpath in New Delhi. Republic Day marks the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect on 26 January 1950.
International Customs Day is observed on 26 January
The International Customs Day (ICD) is observed on 26 January every year. Objective of International Customs Day is to recognise the role of customs officials and agencies and focus on the working conditions and challenges that customs officers face in their jobs. Theme for 2021 is “Customs bolstering Recovery, Renewal and Resilience”. The day was instituted by the World Customs Organization (WCO) to commemorate the day in 1953 when the inaugural session of the Customs Cooperation Council (CCC) was held in Brussels, Belgium.
Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan launches ‘PANKH Abhiyan’ for Girl Child
In Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched a new scheme ‘PANKH Abhiyan’ on 24 January, to mark the occasion of National Girl Child Day. The scheme has been launched under the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ scheme for the empowerment and growth of the girl child. ‘PANKH Abhiyan’ is a year long programme. The letter in the PANKH scheme stands for:
‘P’ – protection
‘A’ – awareness of their rights
‘N’ – nutrition
‘K’ – knowledge
‘H’ – health.
Five-day training organized under ATMA scheme for Jammu and Kashmir farmer
In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, a group of 20 farmers hailing from different districts of Jammu Division was flagged off by Principal Secretary, Navin Kumar Choudhary, for five- day training outside Jammu and Kashmir.
Biden reverses Trump ban on transgender people in military
U.S. President Joe Biden signed an order reversing a Trump-era Pentagon policy that largely barred transgender individuals from serving in the military. Lloyd Austin, Biden’s defense secretary, supports overturning the ban. The Obama administration spent nearly two years studying transgender service before ordering a 2016 policy that allowed those troops to serve openly.
Indian economy estimated to contract by 9.6% in 2020, grow at 7.3% in 2021: UN
India’s economy is estimated to contract by 9.6% in 2020, while it is projected to grow at 7.3% in 2021, a report released by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs.
India’s GDP to contract 8% in FY21: FICCI Survey
India’s gross domestic product (GDP) is liklely to contract by 8% in 2020-21, according a survey by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI). Named as FICCI’s Economic Outlook Survey, it is based on responses from leading economists representing industry, banking and financial services sector. The survey was conducted in January.
India’s GDP growth to contract by 8% in FY21, says IMF
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) upgraded its GDP projection for India to a contraction of 8% in FY21 from its earlier estimate of 10.3% dip, citing encouraging signs of economic recovery as depicted by high-frequency indicators. IMF also revised upward its projections for FY22 to 11.5% from 8.8% estimated earlier.
Maha Vir Chakra awarded to Galwan valley hero Col Santosh Babu posthumously
Colonel B Santosh Babu, the Commanding Officer of 16 Bihar Regiment, who lost his life during the Galwan Valley clash last year, will be posthumously awarded with Maha Vir Chakra.
India Ranks 7th in Global Climate Risk Index 2021 of Germanwatch; Mozambique Tops
India has been placed among the top 10 most affected countries by climate change, in the Global Climate Risk Index 2021 published by the Bonn-based environmental think tank Germanwatch. India ranked as the seventh worst-hit country in terms of climate change in 2019. The Global Climate Risk Index 2021 is the 16th edition of the annual report.
Joint Tri-service Exercise AMPHEX – 21 held in Andaman & Nicobar
A large-scale tri-service joint amphibious exercise AMPHEX – 21 was held in Andaman & Nicobar group of islands from 21 – 25 Jan 2021. The exercise involved participation of troops of Army, Navy as well as the Indian Air Force. The joint force executed multi-domain, high intensity offensive and defensive manoeuvres in the Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal. The Ex KAVACH for defence of Andaman & Nicobar Islands was also a part of AMPHEX – 21.

भारत 26 जनवरी 2021 को 72 वां गणतंत्र दिवस मना रहा है, नई दिल्ली में राजसी राजपथ पर समारोह के साथ। गणतंत्र दिवस उस तारीख को चिह्नित करता है जिस दिन भारत का संविधान 26 जनवरी 1950 को लागू हुआ था।
26 जनवरी को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सीमा शुल्क दिवस मनाया जाता है
अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सीमा शुल्क दिवस (ICD) हर साल 26 जनवरी को मनाया जाता है। अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सीमा शुल्क दिवस का उद्देश्य सीमा शुल्क अधिकारियों और एजेंसियों की भूमिका को पहचानना है और उन कार्य स्थितियों और चुनौतियों पर ध्यान केंद्रित करना है जो सीमा शुल्क अधिकारी अपनी नौकरियों में सामना करते हैं। 2021 के लिए थीम है “सीमा शुल्क वसूली, नवीनीकरण और लचीलापन”। विश्व सीमा शुल्क संगठन (WCO) द्वारा 1953 में उस दिन को मनाने के लिए दिन की शुरुआत की गई थी जब बेल्जियम के ब्रुसेल्स में सीमा शुल्क सहयोग परिषद (CCC) का उद्घाटन सत्र आयोजित किया गया था।

मध्य प्रदेश के सीएम शिवराज सिंह चौहान ने बालिका के लिए PANKH अभियान ’शुरू किया
मध्य प्रदेश में, मुख्यमंत्री शिवराज सिंह चौहान ने 24 जनवरी को राष्ट्रीय बालिका दिवस के अवसर पर एक नई योजना ‘पैनकेक अभियान’ शुरू की। इस योजना को बालिकाओं के सशक्तीकरण और विकास के लिए बेटी बचाओ बेटी पढाओ ’योजना के तहत शुरू किया गया है। ‘पंचक अभियान’ एक साल लंबा कार्यक्रम है। PANKH योजना में पत्र निम्नलिखित के लिए है:
‘P’ – सुरक्षा
‘A’ – अपने अधिकारों के बारे में जागरूकता
‘N’ – पोषण
‘K’ – ज्ञान
‘H’ – स्वास्थ्य
जम्मू और कश्मीर के किसान के लिए ATMA योजना के तहत पांच दिवसीय प्रशिक्षण का आयोजन किया गया
जम्मू और कश्मीर के केंद्र शासित प्रदेश में, जम्मू डिवीजन के विभिन्न जिलों से आए 20 किसानों के एक समूह को जम्मू और कश्मीर के बाहर पांच-दिवसीय प्रशिक्षण के लिए प्रमुख सचिव नवीन कुमार चौधरी ने हरी झंडी दिखाई।

संयुक्त त्रि-सेवा व्यायाम AMPHEX – 21 अंडमान और निकोबार में आयोजित किया गया
अंडमान और निकोबार द्वीप समूह में 21 से 25 जनवरी, 2021 तक बड़े पैमाने पर त्रि-सेवा संयुक्त उभयलिंगी अभ्यास एएमपीएचईएक्स – 21 आयोजित किया गया था। इस अभ्यास में सेना, नौसेना और भारतीय वायु सेना के सैनिकों की भागीदारी शामिल थी। संयुक्त बल ने अंडमान सागर और बंगाल की खाड़ी में बहु-डोमेन, उच्च तीव्रता वाले आक्रामक और रक्षात्मक युद्धाभ्यास को अंजाम दिया। अंडमान और निकोबार द्वीप समूह की रक्षा के लिए पूर्व KAVACH भी AMPHEX – 21 का एक हिस्सा था।
