International Day of Yoga is observed on June 21
International Day of Yoga is celebrated annually on 21 June to raise awareness around the world, regarding the many benefits of practicing Yoga. The theme of 2021 is ‘Yoga for well-being’. 2021 marks the 7th edition of the annual celebrations. The first International Day of Yoga was observed in 2015 at Rajpath in New Delhi.

World Music Day is observed on June 21
World Music Day (Fête de la Musique, as called in French) takes place on 21 June every year to honor the amateur and professional musicians, and to encourage them to showcase their work to the world. The first ever music day took place in 1982 in Paris.

World Hydrography Day is observed on June 21
Every year the World Hydrography Day is observed on 21 June to make the public aware about the hydrography and the essential role that it plays in everyone’s life. The theme for 2021 World Hydrography Day is “One hundred years of international cooperation in hydrography ” . The United Nations General Assembly accepted a resolution to celebrate World Hydrography Day on every June 21 in 2005.

World Humanist Day is observed on June 21
The World Humanist Day is celebrated every year around the world on the June solstice, which usually falls on June 21. The day aims to spread awareness of Humanism as a philosophical life stance and means to effect change in the world. The day has been organised by the International Humanist and Ethical Union (IHEU), since 1980.

‘Sakshama’, COVID helpline for specially abled rolled out in Bengaluru
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and state COVID Task Force head Dr C N Ashwatha Narayana rolled out Sakshama COVID helpline for specially abled in Bengaluru. This dedicated COVID helpline 0120 690 4999 can be used by specially abled persons to seek the benefits of Government welfare programmes. The helpline will be of aid to specially abled people for BPL card or even for job opportunities.The state Government has earmarked four per cent of budget allocation for the welfare of the specially abled persons.

India to host two day summit on Green Hydrogen Initiatives involving BRICS nations
India will host a two day summit on Green Hydrogen Initiatives starting 22nd june involving the BRICS nations. The prestigious event offers a platform to share their respective Green Hydrogen initiatives and views on how to take it to the next level in their own countries. The online event will be anchored by India’s largest power producer and one of the global energy majors, NTPC Ltd.

PM Modi launches ‘WHO M-Yoga’ App
PM Modi launched ‘WHO M-Yoga’ App on the occasion of International Yoga Day. This app will provide many videos of Yoga training and practice based on common Yoga protocol in many languages. Terming this as a great example of fusion of modern technology and ancient science, the Prime Minister expressed the hope that M-Yoga app will help in spreading Yoga world over and will contribute to the efforts of ‘One World, One Health’.

MoS for Education, Sanjay Dhotre launches NIOS Diploma course in Yogic Science
On the occasion of International Day of Yoga, Minister of State for Education Sanjay Dhotre launched NIOS Diploma course in Yogic Science. Mr. Dhotre released the self-instructional material of the course.

India receives USD 64 billion Foreign Direct Investment in 2020
India received USD 64 billion in Foreign Direct Investment in 2020, the fifth largest recipient of inflows in the world, according to a UN report. The report said, in India, Foreign Direct Investment increased 27 per cent, to USD 64 billion in 2020, from USD 51 billion in 2019, pushed up by acquisitions in the information and communication technology industry.

Max Verstappen wins 2021 French Grand Prix
Max Verstappen (Netherlands-Red Bull) has won the 2021 French Grand Prix, held on 21 June 2021. This race is the seventh round of the 2021 FIA Formula One World Championship. With this win Max Verstappen has 131 points and now leads Lewis Hamilton (119 points) in the Formula One drivers’ title race, after seven matches.

BCCI approves 10 crore rupees support for India’s Olympic campaign
BCCI Apex Council has approved up to Rs 10 crore to support India’s forthcoming Olympic campaign in Tokyo. The BCCI apex council sanctioned the proposal in an emergent meeting after it received a request from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The apex council has decided to release Rs 2.5 crore liquid funds and a maximum of Rs 7.5 crore for running a promotional campaign in the lead-up to the Olympics.
