Punjab CM launches scheme for allotment of fair price shops across state
Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh virtually kicked off a state-wide scheme for allotment of 7,219 fair price shops (FPS) under his government’s flagship ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar te Karobaar Mission’.

#LargestVaccineDrive becomes top Twitter trend after Modi launches vaccination
Soon after Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the world’s biggest vaccination drive against the novel coronavirus, netizens took to Twitter to applaud PM Modi with the hashtag -#LargestVaccineDrive. Moments after PM Modi rolled out a pan-India drive to vaccinate around 3 crore people by the end of its first phase through video conferencing at 10:30 am. Twitter users lauded the leadership of Modi and congratulated scientists at the launch of the vaccination drive.

Petroleum & Natural Gas Ministry launches SAKSHAM campaign to spread awareness about green energy
The Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry today launched month-long mass awareness campaign ‘SAKSHAM’ to spread awareness about green and clean energy. The pan-India campaign will focus on adoption of cleaner fuels. The Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Tarun Kapoor launched the campaign in New Delhi.

Railway Ministry rolls out new iron ore policy governing allocation of rakes, transportation of iron ore
Ministry of Railways today rolled out a new iron ore policy governing allocation of rakes and transportation of iron ore. The Policy aims to attune it to the present day needs of customers and to meet the complete requirement of transportation of iron ore customers. It will provide total logistics support to steel industry to meet the competitive challenges. The new policy has been named as Iron-ore Policy 2021 and will come into effect from 10th February this year.

PM announces Startup India Seed Fund Scheme of Rs 1000 cr for startups
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that Startups have the potential to change the future of India. Speaking after interacting with Startups during Prarambh: StartUpIndia International Summit through video conferencing this evening, Mr Modi said, the confidence that all Startups have, should never fade away and always remain. He said, the energy of our youth, their passion to write their own future invents new possibilities for the whole world.

Rajnath Singh launches India’s First Indigenously Designed & Developed Driverless Metro Car
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh unveiled India’s first ‘Driverless Metro Car’ on 15 January 2021 during a function held at BEML’s Bangalore Complex. The indigenously designed & developed state-of-the-art Driverless Metro trains are being manufactured at BEML Bangaluru manufacturing facility, for Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).

Indian-American Vidur Sharma appointed as Covid-19 testing adviser by Joe Biden
Joe Biden has named Indian-American health policy expert Vidur Sharma as testing advisor in his COVID-19 Response Team, as the US President-elect laid out his ambitious goal to intensify vaccinations across the country to tackle the spread of the deadly pandemic. The announcement of Sharma’s appointment as Policy Advisor for Testing was made by Biden on Friday along with additional members of the White House COVID-19 Response Team.

Dhaka International Film Festival Inaugurated
The 19th Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) was inaugurated by the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh Dr. A K Abdul Momen. Inaugurating the Film Festival Dr. Momen Dr. Momen said that the government has reopened the theatre with safety measures in place for the sake of the film industry. The Dhaka film festival this year is dedicated to the memory of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to pay tribute on the occasion of his birth centenary. 225 films from 73 countries will be screened during the festival.

The India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) has partnered with Financial Software and Systems (FSS), to promote financial inclusion among underserved and unbanked segments. Under the collaboration, IPPB will use FSS’ Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AePS) to provide interoperable and affordable doorstep banking services to customers across India. FSS is a a leading banking and digital payment processor and provider of integrated payment products.
