Telangana State Formation Day celebrated on 2 June
Telangana Day is celebrated on 2 June each year from 2014. The day marks the state’s bifurcation from Andhra Pradesh. Telangana State Formation Day 2020 marks the sixth Telangana State Formation Day. It is the 29th state of India after the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act was passed in the Parliament.

International Sex Workers Day is observed on 2 June
International Sex Workers Day is observed on 2 June. The day aims to spread awareness about the rights of sex workers so that they too can live a life of respect. International Sex Workers Day is observed on 2nd June because on 2 June, 1975 approximately 100 sex workers occupied at Sant-Nizier Church in Lyon, France, to express anger about their exploitative living conditions and work culture.

World Bicycle Day is observed on 3 June
World Bicycle Day is observed on 3 June. The day aims to motivate and inspire people towards having more tolerance, understanding, and respect for one another. Bicycle signifies a sustainable means of transport which is good for the environment and economy. In April 2018, the United Nations General Assembly declared June 3 as International World Bicycle Day.

Odisha, Sikkim, Mizoram join ‘One Nation-One Ration Card’ scheme
Three more States — Odisha, Sikkim and Mizoram — have joined the ‘One Nation-One Ration Card’ scheme, taking the number of States and union territories (UTs) which have joined the scheme. By August, Uttarakhand, Nagaland and Manipur will also be added to the national cluster.

Himachal Pradesh Government launches online portal Skill Register to create database of migrants
In Himachal Pradesh, the State Government launched an online portal Skill Register to create a sound database of migrants, who have recently entered the state during the lockdown in the wake of the Corona pandemic. Skill Register would provide industries in getting information regarding skilled manpower.

Meghalaya plans to provide tap connection to all rural households by December, 2022
Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) launched by Central Government last year aims to provide “Functional Household Tap Connection” (FHTC) to every rural household by 2024. Meghalaya presented the Annual Action Plan to achieve 100% household tap connections to National Jal Jeevan Mission, Ministry of Jal Shakti for approval. Meghalaya proposed 100% tap connections to all the households by December, 2022.

PM launched CHAMPIONS, a Technology Platform to empower MSMEs
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched CHAMPIONS, the technology platform on 1 June. The platform aims to empower Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). It is an Information and Communications Technology (ICT) based system. The entire ICT architecture is created in house with the help of the National Informatics Centre (NIC) at no cost.

Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) campaign launched for 1.5 crore dairy farmers
The Government has announced that it is to provide Kisan Credit Card (KCC) to 1.5 crore dairy farmers belonging to Milk Unions and Milk producing Companies within the next two months from 1 June-31 July 2020, under a special drive. The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying in association with the Department of Financial Services has issued KCC application format to all State Milk Federation and Milk Unions for implementing the same on a mission mode.

Power Minister R K Singh formally launches real-time power market
Power Minister R K Singh formally launched pan-India real-time market in electricity, which allows consumers to buy power just one hour before delivery. Real-time market (RTM) enables consumers, including distribution companies (discoms) and captive users, to buy power on exchanges just an hour before delivery.

Centre approves changes in definition of MSMEs as a part of Atmanirbhar Bharat
Centre announced policy changes in the definition for the Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector as part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat package. Changes to the definition of MSMEs was approved in 2019. Union Cabinet also approved an Rs.50,000 crore equity scheme for MSMEs, which are grouped according to the new definition. The move comes as a recognition to the importance of MSMEs. As per the new definition, MSMEs with an investment of Rs.1 crore and turnover of Rs.5 crore will be classified as micro-units. Units with an investment of Rs.10 crore and turnover of Rs.50 crore will be classified as small units. Units with an investment of Rs.50 crore and turnover of Rs.250 crore will be classified as medium units. According to the new definition, exports will not be excluded from the turnover cap.

Gaitri Kumar appointed as next High Commissioner of India to UK
Gaitri I. Kumar has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to the United Kingdom. She is an IFS officer of 1986 batch. She is presently Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Belgium.

Sibi George appointed India’s next Ambassador to Kuwait
Sibi George, an Indian Foreign Service officer of 1993 batch, has been appointed India’s next Ambassador to Kuwait. He is at present India’s Ambassador in Switzerland.

Pradip Kumar Tripathi takes charge as Steel Secretary
Senior IAS officer Pradip Kumar Tripathi took over the charge as Secretary in the Ministry of Steel. Tripathi succeeds Binoy Kumar, who superannuated on May 31, 2020.

RK Chaturvedi assumed charge as Secretary, Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals
RK Chaturvedi assumed charge as Secretary in the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India. Chaturvedi has replaced P.Raghavendra Rao who superannuated on 31 May 2020. RK Chaturvedi is a 1987-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre.
